     Reading Kafka is like steering through a dark and low cave, making myself feel stuck and receding. But while he is taking me to this place, he did not neglect to put very valuable ores there.      Franz Kafka was born in Prague in 1883. He is a son of a Jewish family. He wrote all his works in German instead of his mother tongue Czech. Besides being a very passive and introverted mother, he has an extremely despotic and ambitious father.       Kafka, -who is the son of a father who gets whatever he wants- is not like his father at all. While his father has a rather strong and bulky physique, Kafka is rather thin and frail. His father realizes that his son is physically flawed, he also realizes Kafka's character is not tough and assertive like himself but he is more naive and soft. Realizing that Kafka is not an ideal child model that matches his mind, his father begins to apply psychological violence to Kafka. He was exposed to his father's mockery, bullying, and contempt

       “..I will stand for 6 hours. You can do whatever you want to me with these objects. I take responsibility for what will happen.”       The sentence above was a note written on Marina Abramović's body during her Rhythm 0 performance.    Marina Abramović is a Serbian conceptual and performance artist, philanthropist, writer, and filmmaker. Her work explores body art, endurance art, and feminist art; the relationship between the performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind.      Rhythm 0  was a six-hour work of performance art by Abramović in Naples in 1974. The work involved her standing still while the audience was invited to do to her whatever they wished, using one of 72 objects she had placed on a table.  This table contained all sorts of random items, from flowers to chocolate cakes, from chains to knives. There was even a bullet and a gun on the table. So visitors had a choice between good and bad.   All visitors would be able to use

     Manifesto was released in 2015 and directed by German artist Julian Rosefeldt. Her first thought about Manifesto was making video installations. But later on, it ends up with a movie. I am curious about how video installation would be working on such a concept. However, I think that such a good idea should have been seen by everyone and I am glad that it was chosen as a movie.      Film is based on dialogues and monologues having manifestos of modern and avant-garde art movements. Also, the social manifestos published by some philosophers are included in the film.      Adaptation of some famous paintings to movie scenes, video clips have become common in the contemporary era. Gustav Klimt's  The Kiss  painting and Martin Scorsese's  Shutter Island movie  hugging scene is the painting - mise-en-scène adaptation I will mention about. The reason why I chose this dual is, Gustav Klimt's painting gives the senses of intensity, abstract sparkle occurring inside human emotion, attachment, and passion   in a very effective way. The denotation of the scene from Shutter Island is highly relative to the painting and I could not imagine any other artwork can be replaced with the scene.         Gustav Klimt is an Austrian symbolist painter and one of the most well-known members of the Vienna Secession movement.
