leon

Leon might be the favorite movie I've ever watched. The plot of the movie, the excellent talents of the actors and the fact that the movie warms the heart proves how professionally Leon is made. I've always been someone who cares about non-ordinary, indescribable connections, and this movie pretty sweetly and deeply conveys feelings of childlike purity. I would like to talk about the effect of the film on me rather than the subject of the film and what the story wants to convey etc. Because the analysis of this movie is so boring to me.  There can be no analysis of everything, some things must be understood and accepted as they come. And to me, Leon is in this category.       One of my favorite details is that the film is very modest and reflects the aesthetics of its period in a very natural and organic way. The fact that because the film is visually simple and minimal, it did not cover up the emotional contained. Every scene was like a poetic narrative for me. pink floyd - the wall

It is a well-known fact that Roger Waters -the lead singer of Pink Floyd, the mind of the group, and, perhaps the person who made Pink Floyd extremely crucial- is against the war and attaches great importance to human rights.  Waters lost his father in WWII. He conveyed how terrible and painful the war was in many of the albums with metaphors, symbols, or explicitly during his active times in the group. Although he said that  The Wall  was inspired by the results of war and the psychological destruction it brought to humanity, this album allowed me to interpret war in many different ways. Such as the inner war of the spirit, the war between people, a wall built between humans that is impossible to destroy, the education system, or anything related to a great conflict and destructive situations that people experience.       The story of the album beings with the Animals concert tour. It was a period that reached an extreme level of miscommunication between group members. During

franz kafka

Reading Kafka is like steering through a dark and low cave, making myself feel stuck and receding. But while he is taking me to this place, he did not neglect to put very valuable ores there.      Franz Kafka was born in Prague in 1883. He is a son of a Jewish family. He wrote all his works in German instead of his mother tongue Czech. Besides being a very passive and introverted mother, he has an extremely despotic and ambitious father.       Kafka, -who is the son of a father who gets whatever he wants- is not like his father at all. While his father has a rather strong and bulky physique, Kafka is rather thin and frail. His father realizes that his son is physically flawed, he also realizes Kafka's character is not tough and assertive like himself but he is more naive and soft. Realizing that Kafka is not an ideal child model that matches his mind, his father begins to apply psychological violence to Kafka. He was exposed to his father's mockery, bullying, and contempt

rhythm 0 or death of humanity

“..I will stand for 6 hours. You can do whatever you want to me with these objects. I take responsibility for what will happen.”       The sentence above was a note written on Marina Abramović's body during her Rhythm 0 performance.    Marina Abramović is a Serbian conceptual and performance artist, philanthropist, writer, and filmmaker. Her work explores body art, endurance art, and feminist art; the relationship between the performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind.      Rhythm 0  was a six-hour work of performance art by Abramović in Naples in 1974. The work involved her standing still while the audience was invited to do to her whatever they wished, using one of 72 objects she had placed on a table.  This table contained all sorts of random items, from flowers to chocolate cakes, from chains to knives. There was even a bullet and a gun on the table. So visitors had a choice between good and bad.   All visitors would be able to use

manifesto

Manifesto was released in 2015 and directed by German artist Julian Rosefeldt. Her first thought about Manifesto was making video installations. But later on, it ends up with a movie. I am curious about how video installation would be working on such a concept. However, I think that such a good idea should have been seen by everyone and I am glad that it was chosen as a movie.      Film is based on dialogues and monologues having manifestos of modern and avant-garde art movements. Also, the social manifestos published by some philosophers are included in the film. In order of plot, these art movements and their pioneers are;  Prologue by Karl Marx  Situationism by Alexander Rodchenko Futurism by Flippo Tomasso Marinetti Creationism by Manuel Maples Arce  Abstract Expressionism by Wassily Kandinsky  Dadaism by Tristan Tzara Fluxus by Kurt Schwitters Surrealism by André Breton Architecture by Antonio Sant'Elia   Constructivism by Kazimir Malevich Pop Art by Claes Oldenburg Conce

the kiss and shutter island

Adaptation of some famous paintings to movie scenes, video clips have become common in the contemporary era. Gustav Klimt's  The Kiss  painting and Martin Scorsese's  Shutter Island movie  hugging scene is the painting - mise-en-scène adaptation I will mention about. The reason why I chose this dual is, Gustav Klimt's painting gives the senses of intensity, abstract sparkle occurring inside human emotion, attachment, and passion   in a very effective way. The denotation of the scene from Shutter Island is highly relative to the painting and I could not imagine any other artwork can be replaced with the scene.         Gustav Klimt is an Austrian symbolist painter and one of the most well-known members of the Vienna Secession movement. Klimt's primary subject in his paintings is the female body, and his works are marked by a frank eroticism. Among the artists of the Vienna Secession, Klimt was the most affected by Japanese art and its forms. Klimt had a period calle

oscar wilde and de profundis

In my opinion, one of the brightest, bravest, and idiosyncratic writer is Oscar Wilde. His distinctive sarcastic, sometimes cold, but often heartfelt voice makes me finish his books in one fell swoop. Oscar Wilde is an Irish writer who lived in the late Victorian era in Britain. Considering the rigidity of the people, the country, and the queen in the Victorian era, Oscar Wilde cuts this harsh and sharp period into pieces with his pen. Also, he is a writer who only manages to turn the country upside down with his aestheticism based ideas and life, his many theatre plays and one single novel which is The Picture of Dorian Gray. Unfortunately, he generally stands out for his homosexuality rather than his authorship. However, for me, it is a certain and well-known fact that no personal situation can overshadow his mind, outlook on life, and the cleverness of his writings. As Andre Gidé said, "He was a man of life." According to his close friends, Oscar Wilde was a maste
