pink floyd - the wall

It is a well-known fact that Roger Waters -the lead singer of Pink Floyd, the mind of the group, and, perhaps the person who made Pink Floyd extremely crucial- is against the war and attaches great importance to human rights. Waters lost his father in WWII. He conveyed how terrible and painful the war was in many of the albums with metaphors, symbols, or explicitly during his active times in the group. Although he said that The Wall was inspired by the results of war and the psychological destruction it brought to humanity, this album allowed me to interpret war in many different ways. Such as the inner war of the spirit, the war between people, a wall built between humans that is impossible to destroy, the education system, or anything related to a great conflict and destructive situations that people experience.

The story of the album beings with the Animals concert tour. It was a period that reached an extreme level of miscommunication between group members. During the concert, Roger spat on one of his fan's face while the fan was shouting at them as Demigods! That night, he understood that there is a wall built extremely strong between him and his fans. And this was his first inspiration for creating the album.

"The Wall describes the alienation of the individual from himself, his environment, and the world as a result of his living conditions and fears. Album begins as if by describing a child who has just fallen into the womb. Wall was like a symbol of destroyed childhood because of war. But at the time it seems like a strong stimulant. Pink, who has a strong attachment to his mother, built walls between his mother's protection and the rest. He built an alienated and abstract wall that is very far away from the whole violence of life, injustice, and boredom. As the wall slowly closes, the distance between him and the rest of the world gets bigger. And Pink was kind of falling into an insane void. And he puts the last brick. The wall is completed. He finally isolated himself from the system that injured his nation, killed his father, and became a dictator during the Second World War."

The paragraph above is the official analysis of the album by the music reviewers. It has much longer comments and ideas for the album but I just want to mention the beginning. Because The Wall is not a regular album that says just one thing to the listeners. It is giving the hint and this hint might open thousands of different doors inside people. This can be related to the actual war or anything totally independent from the war but something very personal. I wanted to remind that the beginning and the end of all the songs in the album are also connected. I also recommend watching the movie The Wall, which was created by the group members and released 3 years after the album. Another recommendation is a book Pink Floyd Kilidi Açamazsan Kır Kapıyı written by Fatma Berber and Sümeyra Teltik. It talks about the albums' context in detail and the group in general. It has a very easy read and if people are curious and want to learn about Pink Floyd, they might read it.

To be honest, I believe that Pink Floyd members are not just singers, songwriters, and musicians. They are actually very much like philosophers, their ideas are very important that can touch millions. And you can actually think deeply of a single line they wrote. Also, for me, their music is like the point of nirvana that the music has not reached in decades.

"Listening to Pink Floyd is like tasting an indescribable fruit. They are the companion of all restless souls who are listening to the rhythm inside of them."

the kiss and shutter island

Adaptation of some famous paintings to movie scenes, video clips have become common in the contemporary era. Gustav Klimt's  The Kiss  painting and Martin Scorsese's  Shutter Island movie  hugging scene is the painting - mise-en-scène adaptation I will mention about. The reason why I chose this dual is, Gustav Klimt's painting gives the senses of intensity, abstract sparkle occurring inside human emotion, attachment, and passion   in a very effective way. The denotation of the scene from Shutter Island is highly relative to the painting and I could not imagine any other artwork can be replaced with the scene.         Gustav Klimt is an Austrian symbolist painter and one of the most well-known members of the Vienna Secession movement. Klimt's primary subject in his paintings is the female body, and his works are marked by a frank eroticism. Among the artists of the Vienna Secession, Klimt was the most affected by Japanese art and its forms. Klimt had a period calle

oscar wilde and de profundis

In my opinion, one of the brightest, bravest, and idiosyncratic writer is Oscar Wilde. His distinctive sarcastic, sometimes cold, but often heartfelt voice makes me finish his books in one fell swoop. Oscar Wilde is an Irish writer who lived in the late Victorian era in Britain. Considering the rigidity of the people, the country, and the queen in the Victorian era, Oscar Wilde cuts this harsh and sharp period into pieces with his pen. Also, he is a writer who only manages to turn the country upside down with his aestheticism based ideas and life, his many theatre plays and one single novel which is The Picture of Dorian Gray. Unfortunately, he generally stands out for his homosexuality rather than his authorship. However, for me, it is a certain and well-known fact that no personal situation can overshadow his mind, outlook on life, and the cleverness of his writings. As Andre Gidé said, "He was a man of life." According to his close friends, Oscar Wilde was a maste
